TOWN OF DAVIDSON NEWS

BEATY PARK ADOPTED BY TOWN!

It was a landmark decision for the Town of Davidson and entire community, after 4 decades of wait and past several years of continuous battle by the citizens of Davidson (led by the 501c4 non-profit community advocacy organization Save Davidson); yesterday evening the Town’s new Board of Commissioners and Mayor unanimously endorsed and voted to approve/adopt Resolution 2019-14 for the final recommendations of the Park at Beaty Task Force!

This is a “watershed” moment fulfilling the vision and good faith agreements between the Town and the Venie and Ralph Clontz family, and the Clara Johnson family including Hobbs Hill Neighborhood developer Michael Johnson, dating back to 1985 and 1994 respectively. Their lands were contributed to the Town of Davidson specifically for the purposes of open space conservation including Park and Recreational purposes.

Hobbs Hill Neighborhood joins with its fellow citizens across Davidson in celebrating this long-awaited decision and supporting the resolutions’ next steps as the Town invests in finally making the Park at Beaty Street a reality and one-of-a-kind legacy natural asset for the entire community!
